The discontent at  Manchester United  continues with under-fire manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly questioned by one first-team player over why he appointed  Harry Maguire  as captain of the club The Red Devils are going through turmoil at present, having conceded nine goals in their last two Premier League matches - a 4-2 defeat at  Leicester City  on October 16 that was followed up by a humiliating 5-0 home loss to bitter rivals  Liverpool  on Sunday. And according to a report, a clear-the-air meeting between players and management occurred just two days after the former result - with players not holding back on their opinions The Times claims that one aspect that had irked a member of the squad was the elevation of Maguire to captain just six months after joining the club

Manchester United have made initial contact with Antonio Conte, Sky Italy are reporting. Conte, 52, left his role as Inter Milan head coach last summer after guiding the Serie A club to the title that season. Conte also won the Premier League in his first campaign in charge of Chelsea in 2016 -17.

 💬| It would be wrong to say that Solskjaer "can't" organize a defense. We saw on numerous occasions in 19-20 and 20-21 United play in a very compact organized shape It just seems like in 2021-22 he's actively choosing to not organize his team - to very predictable repercussions The criticism against Ole was always "yes, we know he can organize the team and get stuck in against the big guys, but what happens when teams let United have the ball? He falters."  He always could & has organized a defensive team at Man United, he's just *not* doing it this year 100 percent. I recall reports during pre-season about a change in system, and we have seen united move away from what really worked for Ole.  For me I don’t think you should ever sacrifice defence for attack. Attack should be built on defensive solidity to succeed. He’s trying to transition to a more pressing style with a higher line but the adaptation mid season is so risky and not paying off atm....

 Finally had enough. Thanks for all the beautiful memories as a player, you'll forever remain a club legend but it's time to move on and get someone who can take Manchester United forward.  Ole OUT ✅

  Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has provided a positive update on the calf injury he sustained against Aston Villa in September. Maguire  has been virtually ever-present since joining the Reds from Saturday's opponents Leicester City back in August 2019, but has recently been out of action.  Our towering centre-back picked up a calf problem against Villa at Old Trafford last month and therefore missed our encounters with Everton and Villarreal, in the Premier League and Champions League respectively.  As a result, Harry was not selected for international duty with England during the break. Manchester United  will be left sweating over the fitness of  Raphael Varane  after he limped off injured against  Spain  on Sunday night Varane winced as he lengthened his stride and cut out a low cross from Gavi at the expense of a corner five minutes before the interval.  It seemed innocuous but the United centre-half signalled towards the bench immediately and, although he tried to continue was soon on the floor asking for treatment.    United will be concerned over the extent of Varane's injury, given he was seen sitting on the bench with ice strapped to his right quad. Should he be ruled out of action for the time being, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be forced to face Leicester without both Varane and Harry Maguire.    

 Manchester United will consider terminating Facundo Pellistri's loan-spell at Alaves. United are said to be weighing up whether or not to bring Pellistri back to the club amid concerns about his playing time in Spain. Pellistri has started just once in La Liga so far this campaign. Luke Shaw has backed his Manchester United and England team-mate Jadon Sancho to “go right to the very top”, after working closely with the exciting forward in recent months.
